Description

:iconkeepers-of-daraxtlar:

"Breathe in - breathe out. Breathe in - breathe out. Shorten the srides. Change leg."
He knows how important is to keep
the pace and the breathe rate when gallopping. Especially if he is going to run several miles, patrolling the borders of
the tribe territory.

Elborus took a quick look around without slowing down, everything was fine, no signs of intruders or any danger. He always
tries to finish his duties as fast as possible, he doesn't like to waste time making this stupid work. "We live in a
remote land, our territory is the worst area, which was abandoned by other tribes so why on earth would anyone come here
to conquer it?"
So instead of walking around the borders carefully looking out for dangers, he prefers to run along not
paying much attention to each rustle or squeek. Also long gallop on different types of ground it's a good training for
him, - at least something wholesome he can take from his job.

It was mid-evening, the Sun was slowly moving to the horizon. "Sunset, finally! It will become a bit less stuffy." -
thought Elborus. There had been a strong rain in the afternoon, the wet ground was heated up so the fog rose and the air
humidity was really high. Moreover the wet sticky soil itself made it more complicated to keep the pace. So it was a hard
day and though he passed only half of the route, the stallion was pretty tired. "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger." -
he was going to finish his patrol in time, no matter how hard were the circumstances.

The path turned to the forest on the edge of the Emichi territory, a huge tree has fallen across. Probably it was the
afternoon storm thet wrenched it from the earth and thrown its trunk onto another tree. "Wider pace. Three, two, one, hop!"
- Elborus reached the right distance and jumped. He pulled his forelegs to his chest and strained his back and landed
safely not hitting the log. "Pfff, that wasn't even a bit difficult. Hopefully there will be something more complicated
ahead."
- he thought proudly as he continued to canter further.
